Webb8 mars 2013 · In Gulf war 1 the only pods the F3 carried were Phimat chaff pods - these went under the inner wing pylon or replaced a sidewinder. After Gulf war 1 the F3 adopted the towed decoy on the outer wing pylons - balanced with a Phimat on the opposite wing. As to fatigue keeping fuel / weight in the outer wings actually reduced fatigue.

There definitely seems to be benefit of running the pod in this scenario, though a marginal survivability increase, 20% is better than 0% with a 50% chance of surviving the first missile compared to 30% without.
